To the extent possible, we have done our best to accommodate all the team’s peculiar scheduling requests that were indicated in your registration submission. Be that as it may, let us know if you spot any issue and we’ll try to fix them if possible.

(1) We want to keep the league safe and fun for everyone. While we can all compete vigorously, we should be mindful not to cause needless injuries. At the end of play, we want to see folks go home in one piece.
(2) Team registration fee is due by the time of your second summer game.
(3) There will be a watch party for the Copa America & Euro games at the Northstar Backyard Beer Garden. It’s a great place to watch the games together for members of our Ithaca Soccer Community.

- Update on Summer League 2020
Team Captains & Players,
We hope you are well and managing to stay fit during this challenging times. Just wanted to give you an update with respect to summer league. As you’re probably aware, NY State is implementing a phased re-opening which started on May 15 as cases of the coronavirus COVID-19 is on the decline. We hope this downward trajectory will continue for the state as a whole and for the Southern Tier region in particular. The key point we want to communicate is that sports leagues fall under “Recreation” and is therefore in Phase 4 of the NY Forward plan. We’ve been in contact with park officials (City & State) who in turn have been in regular consultation with the TCHD. From all indications, Phase 4 of NY Forward plan is not expected to be initiated until July at the earliest for the Southern Tier region.
Be that as it may, please be informed we are making arrangements to have a summer league and we’ve already submitted a plan to the City & NYS Park officials. We’ll share this plan with everyone in due course. Just know that the health and safety of every player remains uppermost in our priority and we can have a summer league in a responsible manner that is both safe & fun.
We miss you all and look forward to seeing you soon.
- Stay Strong & Help Each Other

We just want you to know we feel your anguish. IUSC is thinking about you and we are here for you. If you need help, don’t hesitate to reach out. If you are able to offer help, please get in touch with us. And we’ll get it to those who need it.

607-339-1988 - Suspension of League Games for 2 Weeks
To Our Valued Soccer Community Members,
IUSC would like to notify all teams and players that effective immediately we are suspending all league games at the indoor rink/field for 2 weeks as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In our previous statement, we noted we are monitoring this rapidly changing COVID-19 situation on an hourly basis. Today the Tompkins County Health department announced the first confirmed case of corona virus in the area. Knowing that we have low testing regime in this country, having just one case in the county, doesn’t provide any comfort. The health, safety and well-being of all the players remain of paramount importance to us. In these uncertain times, we feel we have a moral and community-minded obligation to keep the spread of the novel virus contained. We recognize that we are co-dependent on one another, that how we behave dramatically impacts the health of others, and that now is the time to practice some level of social distancing to stem the virus.
Consequently, we are suspending all indoor league games at the rink for two weeks. We also expect and request the rink to utilize this break in games to disinfect all the surfaces at the facility to assure everyone’s safety and peace of mind.
We appreciate the feedback we received from members of the soccer community. We urge everyone to comply with CDC/WHO guidelines on best practices/protocols to combat the virus. Together, we’ll rise to the occasion of confronting and overcoming the difficult challenges brought on by this COVID-19 outbreak.
Stay safe. All the best.IUSC
- Coronavirus (COVID-19) & Indoor Season
To All Team Captains & Players:
IUSC would like to inform the soccer community that we are monitoring the rapidly evolving and fluid situation with the Corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic. We want to assure everyone that the health, safety and well-being of all players is our number one priority. We’ve been in contact with county health officials and are also following CDC & WHO guidelines. We appreciate the feedback we’ve been getting and we are aware of concerns about league games during this trying period. For now, we’ll not be suspending league games. We fully understand the situation and are taking preventive measures to help stem any spread of the novel corona virus.
* We’ll be providing hand sanitizers and wipes at all the games.
* We are directing any player who is ill to stay home.
* We are urging all teams and players to please refrain from the tradition of post-game handshakes. We can show good sportsmanship in other ways beside handshakes.
* We are asking the Rink/Field to apply daily disinfectant on the seats, and turf surfaces at the facility.
We take the COVID-19 pandemic seriously. We’ll continue monitoring the situation on a daily and hourly basis. If things change, we’ll not hesitate to suspend league games indefinitely. We wish everyone good health and safety and urge vigilance and adherence to CDC/WHO guidelines on best practices to avoid spread of COVID-19.
Sincerely,
IUSC

- Game Cancellation Saturday @ Cass Park (Some Games Moved to Buttermilk)
Captains,
The City of Ithaca/ Cass Park management have asked us (actually instructed us ) to cancel all games scheduled at Cass Park tomorrow Saturday Oct 27. The fields at Cass Park are already in bad shape and with the expected 1 inch of rain Saturday, the Cass fields will be totally unplayable. So there will be no games at Cass Park Saturday. We’ll be moving all games scheduled on Cass Field 3B to Buttermilk field and all games scheduled for Cass 2 will be re-scheduled. We were unable on short notice to secure IHS turf field for games scheduled on Cass 2.
So please inform your players that all games scheduled on Cass 3B Saturday will be played at Buttermilk, and the games on Cass 2 will be rescheduled. The El Nino phenomenon and changing climate are combining to wreak havoc on our Fall season. We’ll do our best to wrap up the Fall season and move indoors.
To recap, the following games will be played at Buttermilk Saturday 10/27 and the rest will be re-scheduled:
10am: Spicy Revolvers vs Na Fiana
12pm: Los Tigres vs La Masia
02pm: Rovers vs Andies Candies
04pm: Kickers vs AfterschoolersThanks for your patience & understanding.
Remember to sign up for the indoor league if you have not already done so. - IUSC Holiday/Winter Registration Now Open

Captains,
Registration for the IUSC 2017 Fall League is open through Monday, Aug. 28. We will offer Open, Coed and Over-30 leagues. Team fee is $1,000 for Coed, $500 for Over-30 and $500 for Open. You can send along a request for which Coed division you want to be in, but please remember that IUSC has the final say on classification to maintain competitive balance for the overall best interest of teams and the league as a whole.Just as we did for the summer, Open is now 7-on-7 and will be played on the smaller fields at Cass Park and Union Field that are traditionally used for Over-30 — two 25-minutes halves with most games on Sundays. Coed remains on the full field under the same format, with the majority of games on Saturdays. Each team will get 10 games starting as early as Wednesday, Sept. 6 and running until Oct. 29. In all divisions, there will be some form of playoffs … though we will have to look at the team registry upon completion to figure out what the best option is.

* Scheduling LimitationsTeams are assumed to be available for any match date listed below unless otherwise specified. As you know, I will accommodate any reasonable scheduling limitations, but you have to let me know before I write the schedule. Once the schedule is posted, it is final! We do not reschedule any games for any reason other than weather-related field concerns, so get with your teams ahead of time and figure out if there are particularly problematic dates. Some things to consider are Porchfest (Sept. 24) and Columbus Day weekend/Cornell Fall Break (Oct. 6-10).
* Coed Schedule: Primary match times are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, with secondary start times of 6:15 and 8:15 p.m. Monday and Wednesday or 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.
* Over-30 Schedule: Primary match times are 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, with secondary match times of 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday and 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.
* Open Schedule: Primary match times are early to mid-afternoon on Sunday. Secondary start times are 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday and 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. We will continue to use Buttermilk Falls on Saturdays for Coed. Cass Park will also host Coed games on Field 2 (nearest Route 89), Field 3A (nearest the dog park) and/or Field 3B (nearest the rink) on Saturdays, and Union Field under the lights on weeknights. Open and Over-30 will be played at Cass Park in Ithaca, either on Field 1 (near the inlet), Field 5 (near Hangar) or Union Field (under the lights).
Again, registration will end Monday, Aug. 28. My plan is to distribute PDFs of the schedule to captains by Friday, Sept. 1 (with an earlier heads-up to any teams scheduled to play Sept. 6 or Sept. 7). You can find the schedule on the website soon thereafter.
- Summer League
Captains & Players:
The 2017 summer league is in full swing. We will be posting the schedule and updating the standings on this website shortly. Again, we would like to commend you all for organizing your team and registering on time. Thanks to Brandon for crafting the schedule that meets every team’s scheduling requests, and to Michal for taking care of the website. A few things to note:
1. Remember this is a recreational league for fun & fitness. Yes, it can be competitive, but it isn’t the World Cup. Let’s keep it safe, and as much as possible minimize injuries while playing the game we all love. Remember referees are humans and can or do sometimes make mistakes. This should not prevent you from enjoying the game. Let’s keep it respectful. Our league is family-friendly.
2. Both Buttermilk & Cass Park have a “Trash-in-Trash-out” Policy, and they expect us to clean up after our games. So do take a moment to tidy up after your team’s game. Help keep the parks clean and assist us in maintaining good relations with the city & state parks where we play.
3. If you have not already done so, bring your registration fee to your next game, or mail a check to 1583 Mecklenburg Rd, Ithaca NY 14850. Check should be made out to IUSC.
Thanks for your attention to these matters, and most importantly thanks for signing up and playing in the IUSC league. Have a fantastic summer. See you all on the pitch.

So if you’ll have your teams ready to go and can accommodate late notice (no later than June 1), please let me know.
* Fourth of July: I will not schedule any games for any divisions from July 1-5. If your teams’ holidays extend beyond those dates, please specify.

Hi Everyone,
I regret to inform you all that the Guthrie coed tournament scheduled for May 6-7 has now been moved to the weekend of May 13-14. This decision is due largely to the weather (heavy rains) which has rendered the fields at Cass Park unplayable for the tournament. Please notify your players that the Guthrie coed tournament will not be happening this weekend. If you haven’t already gotten back to me, do advise whether your team would still be available to play next weekend.
Thanks for your understanding. We regret any inconvenience this decision may cause. For teams that were not going to take part this weekend, let us know if you want your team included for next week.
We look forward to seeing you all play in the Guthrie next week.
