2020 Summer League Registration

2020 Summer League Registration

Captains/Players,
Soccer is back! We’ve all been cooped up for months. It’s time to get some fresh air and play in the summer league. Registration for the IUSC 2020 Summer Season is open through Sunday, July 5. We will offer Open, Coed and Over-30 leagues. Team fee is $900 for Coed, $400 for Over-30 and $450 for Open. You can send along a request for which Coed division you want to be in, but please remember that IUSC has the final say on classification to maintain competitive balance for the best interest of teams and the league as a whole.

Open will continue to be 7-on-7 and played on the smaller fields at Cass Park that are traditionally used for Over-30 — two 25-minutes halves with most games on Sundays. Coed remains on the full field under the same format at Cass Park and Buttermilk Falls State Park. Each team will get 10 games starting as early as July 6 and running until late August.

To register, send the following to: ithacasoccerleague@gmail.com:

Please note that the health and safety of every player is our top priority. In keeping with NYS Guidelines,

1. Players will be required to wear face masks and stick to 6ft social distancing rules while on the sidelines.

2. We expect and demand that players who are sick to stay home and not show up for games. No player should attend a game if not feeling well, has a fever, or is currently under quarantine. Do not play if a player is exhibiting symptoms of the coronavirus as identified by the CDC.

3. IUSC will provide hand sanitizers and (sanitized) soccer balls at the league games. We urge everyone to continue to refrain from the traditional pre- and post-game handshakes. We also urge players to not engage in the standard group celebration of goals.

In addition, all players will be required to sign a COVID-19 Liability waiver form.

Cheers,

IUSC

Update on Summer League 2020

Team Captains & Players,
We hope you are well and managing to stay fit during this challenging times. Just wanted to give you an update with respect to summer league.

As you’re probably aware, NY State is implementing a phased re-opening which started on May 15 as cases of the coronavirus COVID-19 is on the decline. We hope this downward trajectory will continue for the state as a whole and for the Southern Tier region in particular. The key point we want to communicate is that sports leagues fall under “Recreation” and is therefore in Phase 4 of the NY Forward plan. We’ve been in contact with park officials (City & State) who in turn have been in regular consultation with the TCHD. From all indications, Phase 4 of NY Forward plan is not expected to be initiated until July at the earliest for the Southern Tier region.

Be that as it may, please be informed we are making arrangements to have a summer league and we’ve already submitted a plan to the City & NYS Park officials. We’ll share this plan with everyone in due course. Just know that the health and safety of every player remains uppermost in our priority and we can have a summer league in a responsible manner that is both safe & fun.

We miss you all and look forward to seeing you soon.

Suspension of League Games for 2 Weeks

To Our Valued Soccer Community Members,

IUSC would like to notify all teams and players that effective immediately we are suspending all league games at the indoor rink/field for 2 weeks as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In our previous statement, we noted we are monitoring this rapidly changing COVID-19 situation on an hourly basis. Today the Tompkins County Health department announced the first confirmed case of corona virus in the area. Knowing that we have low testing regime in this country, having just one case in the county, doesn’t provide any comfort. The health, safety and well-being of all the players remain of paramount importance to us. In these uncertain times, we feel we have a moral and community-minded obligation to keep the spread of the novel virus contained. We recognize that we are co-dependent on one another, that how we behave dramatically impacts the health of others, and that now is the time to practice some level of social distancing to stem the virus.

Consequently, we are suspending all indoor league games at the rink for two weeks. We also expect and request the rink to utilize this break in games to disinfect all the surfaces at the facility to assure everyone’s safety and peace of mind.
We appreciate the feedback we received from members of the soccer community. We urge everyone to comply with CDC/WHO guidelines on best practices/protocols to combat the virus. Together, we’ll rise to the occasion of confronting and overcoming the difficult challenges brought on by this COVID-19 outbreak.
Stay safe. All the best.

IUSC

Coronavirus (COVID-19) & Indoor Season

To All Team Captains & Players:
IUSC would like to inform the soccer community that we are monitoring the rapidly evolving and fluid situation with the Corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic. We want to assure everyone that the health, safety and well-being of all players is our number one priority. We’ve been in contact with county health officials and are also following CDC & WHO guidelines.

We appreciate the feedback we’ve been getting and we are aware of concerns about league games during this trying period. For now, we’ll not be suspending league games. We fully understand the situation and are taking preventive measures to help stem any spread of the novel corona virus.

* We’ll be providing hand sanitizers and wipes at all the games.

* We are directing any player who is ill to stay home.

* We are urging all teams and players to please refrain from the tradition of post-game handshakes. We can show good sportsmanship in other ways beside handshakes.

* We are asking the Rink/Field to apply daily disinfectant on the seats, and turf surfaces at the facility.

We take the COVID-19 pandemic seriously. We’ll continue monitoring the situation on a daily and hourly basis. If things change, we’ll not hesitate to suspend league games indefinitely. We wish everyone good health and safety and urge vigilance and adherence to CDC/WHO guidelines on best practices to avoid spread of COVID-19.

Sincerely,

IUSC
